L.E.G.A.C.Y. — Living Eternally Grateful as Catholic Youth is a group of high school youth in grades 9-12, who meet one Sunday evening a month to discuss various topics of our faith. For the last three years, we have participated in Youthworks service trips, a week-long community service experience. It has been nothing short of amazing. We have served in Washington DC, Niagra Falls and this summer will be going to the Boston area.

During the rest of the year, we participate in many community service projects, such as raking leaves for the elderly, serving meals at the Christian Fellowship Soup Kitchen in Bristol, and collecting cans and bottles to raise funds for our sister-parish in Haiti.

The highlight of the year is the annual 30-hour Famine, when the youth fast for thirty hours and sleep outside in cardboard boxes in solidarity with the hungry and homeless.

We also attend spiritual events sponsored by the Archdiocese of Hartford, such as the Catholic Youth Spectacular and the Black History Month Mass. The group has social activities to build community, such as going bowling or to Lake Compounce.

In addition, the youth are active in the life of the parish by sponsoring Youth Masses and the annual Breakfast with Santa.
